Kate Charters the chief judge has arrived. There is no definition in the rules of how the competition draw should be structured. For example, how many 'jump off' rounds are drawn in advance or which blocks are included in each class. The UK Nationals are significantly different to those of many European countries. Kate is now in the process of deciding those rules in conjunction with Martin Soulsby as this post is written.
So onto the teams who have arrived. At the moment, 21 teams are registered across all the classes and they represent the UK, Holland, Belgium, Greece, Norway and Italy. Surprisingly, top euro teams Hyabusa and Sinapsi are not registered to compete. In their place, are 4XTT and Spinapsimo both with members of those teams. Competing against them in the AAA class are Satori, Frost from Norway, Fend 4 Yourself, Nuvision, Phobia and Voodoo from South Africa.
Yes I did say South Africa! They are entering as a guest team and also competed at the British Nationals a few weeks ago. Continuing on in that European theme are AA class team Empat Laki Laki from Holland, but with an Indonesian name meaning 4 people.
The Spirit Trophy represents the biggest presence in the competition and on that score the Dutch and British will fight it out. The weather has been absolutely perfect today with warm temperatures and wall to wall blue skies.
